1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using OurRoots (the "App"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Service Description
OurRoots is an iOS application that helps families record and preserve memories across generations. Core features include:
- Family member management and family tree visualization
- Timeline event recording (with photos, dates, descriptions)
- Smart album (clustered by events)
- Family member collaboration via iCloud
- Premium subscription features (Annual Review, Time Machine notifications, multi-family support, etc.)
3. Accounts & Devices
- The App does not require account registration. Your identity is implicitly tied to your Apple ID via iCloud.
- You are responsible for safeguarding your Apple ID and device passwords. Data loss due to compromised credentials is your responsibility.
- The App supports iOS / iPadOS only, requiring iOS 17.0 or later.
4. Subscription Service
4.1 Subscription Tiers
OurRoots Premium offers:
- Monthly: ¥18 / month
- Yearly: ¥128 / year
4.2 Auto-Renewal
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Renewal charges occur within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Prices may adjust based on Apple's exchange rates, taxes, or other factors. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notification or email.
4.3 Cancellation
- Cancel anytime via iOS "Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions".
- After cancellation, your subscription will stop renewing at the end of the current period. No refund for the current period.
4.4 Refunds
- Refunds are handled by Apple. Please apply through Apple's Refund Page.
- We (the developer) cannot directly issue refunds.
4.5 Family Sharing
Subscriptions support Apple's Family Sharing, allowing up to 5 family members to share Premium benefits.
5. User Conduct
When using the App, you agree not to:
- Upload illegal, violent, sexual, harassing, or rights-infringing content
- Use the App for any unlawful activity
- Reverse engineer, crack, modify the App's code, or bypass subscription validation
- Exploit App vulnerabilities for attacks or data theft
- Create family member profiles by impersonating others
Violation of these rules may result in termination of your access to the App.
6. Content Ownership
- Your content: All family member profiles, timeline events, photos, and other data you create belong entirely to you. We claim no ownership or usage rights.
- The App itself: Including code, UI design, trademarks, and brand assets, belongs to the developer. No copying, distribution, or commercial use without written permission.
7. Data Storage & Backup
- Your data is stored in your own iCloud account. Data security is ultimately ensured by Apple iCloud services.
- We strongly recommend regularly checking your iCloud backup status in iOS Settings to prevent data loss from account issues.
- We are not responsible for data loss caused by Apple iCloud service failures, Apple ID issues, device damage, or other factors beyond our control.
8. Service Availability
- We will use best efforts to keep the App running reliably, but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
- Some features may be temporarily unavailable due to App Store policy changes, Apple system updates, iCloud service adjustments, or other uncontrollable factors. We assume no liability.
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate any feature or the entire service at any time. Major changes will be announced in advance.
9. Disclaimer
The App is provided "AS IS" without any express or implied warranty, including but not limited to:
- Merchantability / fitness for a particular purpose
- Data integrity / accuracy
- Service continuity
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages (including but not limited to data loss, loss of revenue, loss of profits) arising from the use or inability to use the App.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall first be resolved through friendly negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to the competent People's Court in the developer's jurisdiction.
